Yes, poetry expresses feelings, and science states facts!!
We feel they are poles apart. However, they are more similar than we think. Can we deny that wonder and vision are two elements that initiate and sustain both? Both need curiosity, observation, patience, and thoughts.
This workshop will initiate an interaction of different disciplines in the young minds, will learn to connect the two domains, and develop dialogues between arts and science. And maybe get a glimpse of a realm where both meld into each other.
In this 3-day workshop, they will
- Learn 3 writing tools
- Revisit and reflect 3 scientific concepts
- Connect the dots and create their own poetic expressions.
- Learn to review their own work
Objective
The aim is to develop their writing skills through a process of reflection and connection of various dots that lay scattered as they assimilate a new concept.
Take aways:
- 3 self composed poems
- An initiation to interdisciplinary approach to any concept.
- A prompt to explore how lang works
Come and explore a new way of thinking!!!

Hi Soumi, the 3-day intensive yet fun workshop was quite enriching, where Maneet and Manyu with their friends raked their brains, explored fossils to dinos to space to seasons and churned out wonderful poetry. Thank you for providing them with this experience!

I completely concur with the thoughts of other parents whose kids were a part of your Poetry in Science session. Not only were the kids super excited to discuss Fossils, Dinosaurs, and Space, the romanticism that came out of their imagination while discussing the stars sun and moon was exemplary! All kids gave amazing personification poetry ideas. Kudos to Soumi to bring this hidden talent.

Feedbacks from parents and students: Grades 6 to 8 workshop
Some people have the knack for bringing out the best from children by letting them enjoy the journey. Soumi Duttagupta of WORDPLAY does just that! My son, Arpan looks forward to more of her workshops. She brought together Science and poetry for these boys and girls and tied creativity with an awareness about one's environment. The result was 3 amazing science poems written by each of the participants. Hats off Soumi Duttagupta!.
