Poetry In Science

Yes, poetry expresses feelings, and science states facts!!

We feel they are poles apart. However, they are more similar than we think. Can we deny that wonder and vision are two elements that initiate and sustain both? Both need curiosity, observation, patience, and thoughts.

This workshop will initiate an interaction of different disciplines in the young minds, will learn to connect the two domains, and develop dialogues between arts and science. And maybe get a glimpse of a realm where both meld into each other.

My experience as a facilitator of this program has shown me this approach foster love for learning, ignite the spark of enthusiasm, and address learning differences in students.

Some people have the knack of bringing out the best from children by letting them enjoy the journey. Soumi Duttagupta of WORDPLAY does just that! My son looks forward to more of her workshops. She brought together Science and poetry for these boys and girls and tied creativity with an awareness about one's environment. The result was –

I love exploring science - black holes, whales and fossils were interesting ideas! And looking at them through poetic lens was thought-provoking !! I am glad that I got the chance to attend this workshop. The two realms which were introduced were totally different but like magnets, the opposites attract and so did these two topics😍. The topic itself sounded interesting and unique, it was not an easy one though, but you made us all understand with such patience, we got the hang of it😃. You yourself are such a wonderful teacher😍. In the session, we learnt many things, many poetic devices, how to express a ton of thoughts in no more than a few words, and so much science stuff! Sound, black holes and fossils! It all was really exciting and I am enthusiastic to write more poems using the advices and techniques you gave us. You've taught me creativity has no bounds. You helped us to connect science and poetry and it was amazing. Visualizing the two subjects together on the first day of the workshop was not very easy for me but with your wonderful way of facilitation it was not only easy but was fun!
